 The book "Trucks MAZ-502, MAZ-501Б", by Mikhail Sokolov, consists of 3 parts and 18 chapters and contains 1320 original archival photographs and drawings, most of which are published for the first time. This edition is the final book of the series about MAZs of the "two hundredth" family and their derivatives.

The 1st part of it tells in detail about the second Minsk all-wheel drive - MAZ-502, perhaps the most controversial of all serial Minsk trucks. For the first time, the reader will learn about the reasons, oddities and even paradoxes of the very original emergence of this model, to which, with all the desire, it is impossible to apply the term “development”; about the numerous and varied tests of just two prototypes, which at first could be considered representatives of this model only with a stretch; about its advantages and disadvantages in comparison with other military trucks; about the serious criticism that this car was subjected to by the military; about why most of its identified shortcomings turned out to be impossible to eliminate; and that, thanks to which, despite all this, the MAZ-502 with a modified chassis was nevertheless put into mass production. The narrative also touches on design changes to the car; his, frankly, unconventional military service and subsequent civilian operation, which also differed from the use of other trucks. In addition, the book will tell you which modifications of the 502nd were part of the truly formidable strategic weapons systems, and which were just a fake scarecrow for the Western powers; about what simple conversions turned many civilian "502s" into more popular tractor cars with really high performance; about why many representatives of the model eventually turned out to be "long-livers" and about many, many other things, one way or another connected with the history of the "502s".

Part 2 is dedicated to the most outstanding and, at the same time, the most unknown Minsk serial 4x4 truck - MAZ-501Б. One and a half times more powerful and high-torque model, due to its old-fashioned appearance, turned out to be so ignored by all information resources of that time that now traces of its existence had to be found literally bit by bit, simultaneously eliminating a large amount of confusion associated with it, and debunking some established myths. For the first time, the book provides the most complete description of the MAZ-501Б, assembled together, including the history of creation, hitherto practically unknown real design features and genuine technical characteristics; as well as a description of the modifications and varieties, which the "501B" actually also had a lot of. And finally,

the 3rd part of the book - "Postscriptum", which also occupies a considerable volume (86 pages), is the publication of numerous and varied information that appeared after the publication of the previous books in the cycle. The chapters of this part (corresponding to published books) also contain many previously unknown archival photos, documents and facts of undoubted interest, as well as all kinds of additions, corrections and clarifications.

Читатель впервые узнает о причинах, странностях и даже парадоксах весьма оригинального возникновения этой модели, к которой при всем желании не получается применить термин «разработка»; о многочисленных и разнообразных испытаниях всего лишь двух опытных образцов, которые поначалу могли считаться представителями этой модели лишь с большой натяжкой; о ее достоинствах и недостатках в сравнении с другими военными грузовиками; о той серьезной критике, которой этот автомобиль подвергался со стороны военных; о том, почему большинство выявленных его недостатков оказалось невозможно устранить; и о том, благодаря чему, несмотря на все это, МАЗ-502 с измененной ходовой частью все же был запущен в серийное производство. Повествование также затрагивает конструктивные изменения автомобиля; его, прямо скажем, нетрадиционную военную службу и последующую гражданскую эксплуатацию, также отличавшуюся от применения других грузовиков.
