The book “FLYING SEAGUES. Part II”continues the story of the GAZ-13 Chaika car, the brightest star in the history of the Gorky Automobile Plant.
The publication presents historical photographs of factory and non-factory vehicle modifications, describes the stages of their creation and the problems that factory workers had to face. There are still many rare factory brochures, drawings, and documents in the book, most of which are published for the first time.
The pages contain memories of the veterans of the plant, talked about the use of components and assemblies of GAZ-13 on other cars and water transport. You will learn about how they met The Seagull abroad and about who and how she went to in the Land of Soviets, how she was shot in films and painted by venerable and little-known artists, how her image became an object of collecting.
The chapter “Imitation” tells about how the “Seagull” influenced the general perception and understanding of the external image of passenger cars in general, about what the great “army of home-made” of the USSR was striving for and created in those years.
In the section "Alive and Ghosts" you can see what used to be fast and beautiful cars, and now, thanks to the efforts of "enthusiasts" and weather conditions, it has turned into rusty trash. On the other hand, carefully preserved and cherished specimens in collections of various auto museums and in private collections.
The leitmotif of the whole book is the theme of "Myths and Legends", which exposes the prevailing misconceptions related to the history of "The Seagull", and talks about new, little-known facts.
The author of the picture on the cover (especially for this book) is Alexander Zakharov.

Книга «ПОЛЁТ ЧАЙКИ. Часть II» продолжает повествование об автомобиле М-13 «Чайка» - ярчайшей звезде в истории Горьковского автомобильного завода.
В издании представлены исторические фотографии заводских и незаводских модификаций автомобиля, описаны этапы их создания и проблемы, с которыми пришлось столкнуться заводчанам. По-прежнему в книге много редких заводских проспектов, рисунков и документов, большая часть из которых публикуется впервые. 
На страницах приведены воспоминания ветеранов завода, рассказано об использовании узлов и агрегатов М-13 на других автомобилях и водном транспорте. Вы узнаете о том, как встречали «Чайку» за границей и о том кто и как на ней ездил в Стране Советов, как её снимали в кино и рисовали маститые и малоизвестные художники, как её образ становился объектом коллекционирования.
Глава «Подражание» поведает о том, как «Чайка» повлияла на общее восприятие и представление о внешнем образе легковых автомобилей в целом, о том, к чему стремилась и что создавала в те годы большая «армия самодельщиков» СССР.
В разделе «Живые и призраки» Вы сможете увидеть то, что когда-то было стремительными и красивыми машинами, а ныне стараниями «энтузиастов» и погодных условий превратилось в ржавый хлам. С другой стороны – бережно сохраняемые и лелеемые экземпляры в собраниях различных автомузеев и в частных коллекциях.
Лейтмотивом всей книги является тема «Мифы и легенды», которая разоблачает бытующие заблуждения, относящиеся к истории «Чайки», и рассказывает о новых, малоизвестных фактах.
